When you are depressed what is the best thing to do?

OpenStudy (zale101):

take a nap, that's what i do

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Go for a walk. Preferably in a beach or in a park.

OpenStudy (petiteme):

Rest :)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Exercise. Proper exercise produces endorphins, which are a natural antidepressant.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

The correct answer is to talk to someone you feel comfortable and can trust. While exercising does release endorphins, those who fall under depression either do not exercise regularly, or will lack the motivation. Sleeping isn't good, either, as it lets your mind run, and the laziness can promote self-pity and reduced self-esteem. While rest and time do heal, it isn't until later that it takes effect, and you can remain, if not dealt with properly, a constant state, or partial-state of melancholia, which is also unhealthy. So, yes - all can work, and exercise does work, but only for a minority. Find someone. Talk to them. The problem won't go away if you just ignore it. I am not trying to contradict anyone or disprove - I am the Ambassador for this section, and for many reasons. Sincerely, Marshall Mathers.

my answer is disconcerting compared to all of your answers
