Did the American System improve the United States, or did it create a division in the country? Provide support for your answer.
@halorazer help me out
hold on a minute boss.
Well this isn't annoying. I had it all typed out and for whatever reason it deleted it. But anyways, the American System was a system of protective tariffs and other things to protect the United States' economy by increasing the taxes on foreign (mainly European) goods. These tariffs kept getting higher and higher, until it peaked during theTariff of Abominations, which essentially divided the nation into two, to the point where South Carolina threatened to secede. Which lead to the Nullification Crisis, and as in almost all history, one thing leads to another until it's a huge fiasco.
The state of _________ opposed Jackson's high tariffs on imported goods.
