Sorry that it's upside down! Idk how to turn it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
How did u figure that out?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
And yes!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Can you check my other ones? I dont really know what Im doing

6x^2-30x=0
We see 6x in common between both of them.
So factor out 6x:
6x(x-5)=0
x=0, 5
And I checked your other 3, they are all correct.

What about these?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
LIke can you take me step by step?
OpenStudy (yttrium):
3x^2-x = 0
x (3x-1) = 0
x = 0, 1/3 ----> this is for the 1st part

Hahah I like your username @dumbcow
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
this will help for questions #3,4
difference of squares
\[a^{2} -b^{2} = (a+b)(a-b)\]
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
haha thank you :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay hold on
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So what do I do next @Yttrium

Hold on @dumbcow because Im gonna try 3 and 4 soon
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So for #3 would it be: (s-144)(s+144) ?
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
not quite....b^2 = 144
what is sqrt of 144 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
12
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
yep
= (s+12)(s-12)

And what do I do next?
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
umm to finish solving, set each factor equal to 0
s+12 = 0
s-12 = 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
s = -12 and 12?
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
correct done, on to next one
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ohh!:) that's easy then and okay

#4 (6w-11)(6w+11)
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
yes good job, now split up factors and solve
OpenStudy (anonymous):
how?
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
just like you did on last one
OpenStudy (anonymous):
11/6 ?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):
good what about 2nd answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-11/6
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
and how do i write my answer for those type of problems?
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
w = -11/6
w = 11/6

oh okay:) thanks! and how would I solve:
10y^2 - 450 = 40y
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It'd be 10y^2 + 40y - 450 = 0
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
ok start by factoring out common factors like 10
...also is that a typo , it should be 10y^2 -40y-450 =0 right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ohh! it's -40y not positive
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so divide everything by 10?

yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
y^2 + 4y - 45 = 0?
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
\[y^{2}-4y -45 = 0\]
:)
now what numbers multiply to -45 but add to get -4 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
10y^2 - 450 = -40y
+40y +40y
10y^2 + 40y - 450 = 0
------------------
10
this now equals
y^2 + 4y - 45 = 0
___ x ___ = -45
____ + ____ = 4
-5 and 9
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
ok so it is +4y ?
anyway yes you got it :)
-5 and 9

(y-5)(y+9) = 0
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes and okay thank you!!
OpenStudy (dumbcow):
yw gotta go
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can u help me with one more ??
