So how many half gallons in 3 gallons?

2L per 1/2 gal.

How do you turn that 1/2 into 3?  Multiply by 6.  To keep the ratio equal, multiply the 2L by 6 as well, therefore you'll need 12L of soda.  Since each bottle is 2L:  12L/2L=6 bottles
