6(a+5) = 5(a+6) -7 okay um Im confused when you plug it in 6a+30=5a+30-7 1a and then I don't know what to do for the rest.. does the 30 cancel out? and is the answer -7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You take -30 on each side of the equation, leaving you with: 6a=5a-7 Then I would subtract by -5a on each side --> 6a-5a=-7 --> a=-7
