OpenStudy (ttop0816):

Solve (x + 2 < 5) (x - 7 > -6). {x | -6 < x < 5} {x | x < 3 or x > 1} <--- Ø <--- im a bit confused if it is the second one or the third one ):

OpenStudy (phi):

Does the question mean (x + 2 < 5) AND (x - 7 > -6) or (x + 2 < 5) OR (x - 7 > -6)?

OpenStudy (ttop0816):

or!

OpenStudy (phi):

then you can simplify (x + 2 < 5) or (x - 7 > -6) to x < 3 or x > 1 which is the middle choice. btw, no matter what x you pick, it will always be one or the other (or both) so that is the same -infinity < x < infinity
