OpenStudy (anonymous):

if a point A (5,3) is reflected over the Y-axis what are the coordinates for the image of A

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Well, all we have to do is switch the integer of x.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

y will stay the same, but x turns from positive to negative, or from negative to positive.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

And welcome to Open Study, btw! :3

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

if u have point (x,y) to reflected over the Y-axis use the formula of (-x,y)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Also, the new image is A' or A prime.

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

@ikram002p Exactly! :D

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

If you are reflecting over the x axis, you use (x, y) --> (x, -y)

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

Well, like mentioned earlier, just make the x coordinate negative and you will have your answer :3
