Explain how the movement of matter through an ecosystem is different to the movement of energy;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Energy cannot be recycled; it moves one way. Matter, however, is recycled throughout many ecosystems.it is different because the energy moving through the ecosystem is from organisms, and the energy moving through an ecosystem is from sunlight and other resources. Generally, the biosphere is a closed system, so matter remains fairly constant. Energy, on the other hand, is enters and leaves the system constantly in the form of sunlight and infrared radiation. you can also check this for more help http://www.learner.org/courses/envsci/unit/text.php?unit=4&secNum=3 :)
