How do you find the solutions to an equation with a negative discriminant, even though they are not real?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the solutions will be complex then. you will use the fact that sqrt(-1) = i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and so sqrt(negativeDiscriminant) = sqrt(-PositiveDiscriminant) = i*sqrt(PositiveDiscriminant)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that all?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well for me it is enough. i dont know what they mean though lol

Thank you :)
