Connotations decipher whether using different synonyms for the same idea, can determine if it's good or bad. To different words can have the same meaning but DIFFERENT connotations.

Example|Negative connotation: #1 Burly. #2 Nerdy
Example| Posetive connotation:#1 Muscular.#2 Studious.

(The way I view it-->) Esoteric: difficult to understand; abstruse.
Like a group of people who have a certain way of thinking or speaking.
This is totally up to you, does the words; Classafied, Confidential and restricted, seem offensive, or insulting. My trick to finding out if a connotation is negative or posetive is to call myself that word. So, if I were to call you esoteric, would you respond in a flattered or defensive way. Sorry for taking so long.
