OpenStudy (zale101):

do cross multiply x + 3 * x + 3 = 4 * 9 then simplify and Multiply 3 + x * 3 + x 3 * 3 + x * 3 + x * 3 + x = 4 * 9 9 + 3x + 3x + x^2 = 4 * 9 To combine like terms 3x + 3x must be 6x so 9 + 6x + x^2 = 4 * 9 Multiply 4 * 9 9 + 6x + x^2 = 36 <---- now solve this equation 9 + -36 = -27 and subtract 36 to the right side -27 + 6x + x^2 = 36 - 36 and get -27 + 6x + x^2 = 0 So we already have a quadratic equation ready, the next method is to factor it (-9 -x)(3 -x) = 0 -9-x=0 x=-9 3-x=0 x=3 Our final answer is x = {-9, 3}

@math&ing001, please don't give out the answer right away, show @ddemi23 how to solve this equation. This is not a good way of helping people cheat on their homework. Read the CoC http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct
