Find the radius of the shown circle with center O given that BC=8 and QO=2

OpenStudy (abbles):

is there a picture?

OpenStudy (abbles):

is it drawn to scale?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (abbles):

ok then I think the radius is sqrt of 20 by the Pythagorean theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where did you get 2^2 and 4^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

half Bc is 4 since OQ is prependicular it halves BC so in the triangle using pythagoras 4^2 plus 2^2 = 20 so OC the radius is SQRT of 20 which is 2 sqrt{5}
