How does a state representative assist with passing laws?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A representative is the person who starts the making of the laws, which requires a sponsored bill. This bill must then be studied and passed by the committee. If the committee passes the bill then that bill has to be voted on. After that the bill has to also be passed by the Senate to become law.
