OpenStudy (anonymous):

can anybody give me a materials for preparing mbbs entrance exam

OpenStudy (abb0t):

What is MBBS?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mbbs means ug graduate for a doctor

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ummm...it depends in which country are u applying for..

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Oh, so I'm guessing that it is analogous to MCAT, in the states? Yes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in india like aiims

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of curse ya

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

MB is Medicinae Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Medicine in Latin) BS is Bachelor of Surgery (in English)

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

umm...giving cet? or pmt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no in india it is bachelor of medicine in science

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, I am not sure about the medical examination for india, BUT, I know the material that is tested on in MCAT here in the states, and I assume that it is very similar: biology, physical science (chemistry, physics), verbal reasoning (english and vocabulary and comprehension). Some require a vocal trial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant understand what you are telling

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya ofcource you can give me the details about in states

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

se if u r giving entrances like PMT or CET..then there are a few books which give u mcq problem set required for the test...ummm....i cant remeber the names very well but vidyabharati and a few others...i have some of them...ill check and tell u

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Here is a website that offers a variety of study guides for MCAT testing: http://www.whatsgoodblog.com/2011/02/10-free-sites-prepare-mcat/ You can also order books online in amazon (I think are cheaper than eBay), to help study.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yes you can take your own time

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I know that some people like to have the book physically with them to study (like me). So, you can order. Soome of the best books I know are: \(kaplan\). A lot of people swear by them and are very reputable. Best of luck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh thank youvery much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whether you have written mcat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whether mcat test they will be keep in online or we have to go to states?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, MCAT is taken in an office or a school. But they do offer "practice" tests from like previous years that are SIMILAR. But not exactly the same.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

But the information is allowed to be viewed by anyone. So you can view all the ingormation you need on those sites.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in us or they have centres in india for conducting mcat

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

http://www.emedicalprep.com/important-books.html

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I am not sure about that. MCAT is what they call it here in the states: medical college admissions test.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

But you have MBBS, which sounds the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ifipass in mcat i will get seat in american government college

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes. If you score very well in MCAT in the states, you can probably guarantee yourself entrance to any medical college in the states.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Of course, your undergraduate coursework must also be about B average, meaning 8's and above. I dont know the grading scale in India. but i know some schools iin other countries use numbering scale of 1-10.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant understand of what you are telling is it about age graduation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the duration of medical cource in us?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, you need to complete coursework in order to apply, meaning 1 year of biology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology. Also 2 years of chemistry: general and organic (some require inorganic or biochemistry). And also 1 year of physics: mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, and Optics waves and Thermodynamics. You also need 1 year in english. They test in english and comprehension and reading. The MCAT test has I think 4 parts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then whats up are you a doctor

OpenStudy (abb0t):

I think medical school is about 3-4 years + residency. It depends on what you wish to specialize in.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

after residency, you can specialize, but you must specialize in EVERYTHING before.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know any people in india to help me about the entrance exam in india

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Maybe @uri but I think she is economics.

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

I am an indian...I can surely help u out...ill post the names of all d books that my prof suggested me...just give me a day 2 find d list

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh fine! thank you very much for giving me the details

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tomorrow at same you will come to open study?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh its fine take your own time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank youvery much tomorow shall ii meet you at same time in open study?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

Yep sure....srry I dozed off yest...

OpenStudy (uri):
