if an organism's diploid cells contain 8 chromosomes, how many chromosomes do its haploid cells contain? 4? 8? 10? or 16?

see if i have 2 chromosomes in diploid cell then there are half the no of chromosmes in aploid cell ie 1. so for eg diploid has 4 then haploid has 2.
