The length of a rectangle is 4 units more than its width. The area of the rectangle is 25 more than 4 times the width. What is the width of the rectangle?

OpenStudy (vivek3461):

let length be X, and so width will be X-4 From the second statement of your problem you can frame the following equation, Area of rectangle = X.(X-4) = 4.(X-4) + 25 By solving the above quadratic equation you will get the answer.
