Can someone help me solve this step by step? -x - 3 < 13 + 3x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first think of the inequality as an equal sign so it is just like a two step equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay . . but how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just take out the inequality and replace it with an equal sign like so\[-x-3=13+3x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i see i see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes then you add 3 to 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct then take\[-3x\] and add it to -x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhm neggative 4 x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes then divide -4x by 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and since you divided by a negative the inequality gets flipped \[x >-4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one more question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-x - 3 < 13 + 3x -4x < 16 x > -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the missing step to that ? o__o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

three plus 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you sure? o__o the answer choices are : -4x - 3 > 13 2x - 3 < 18 -4x - 3 < 13 2x - 3 > 18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be the second one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you good sir

OpenStudy (anonymous):

good mam but you are welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was wrong... but thanks though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its cool man i got alot wrong myself.. lol i hate math
