4 quarts to 31 pints

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Are you putting this in a ratio?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

In order to put this into a ratio we need to make sure that one of the are converted to the other one, we can convert either quarts to pints or pints to quarts.

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

What I would prefer to do is convert the quarts to pints. Since we are converting from the bigger unit to a smaller unit, we need to multiply. If we were to do pints to quarts, we had to divide. Since 1 quart = 2 pints, we need to multiply 4*2 to get the amount of pint. What is 4*2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 ?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

Correct. Our answer with then be 8 pint to 31 pint.

thank you :D

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

No problem :)
