please help!! the arch of a bridge can be modeled by y=-0.00211x^2+1.06x where x is the distance in meters and y is the height (in meters) of the arch above the water. For what distances x is the arch above the road?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

plug in y = 0 and solve for x

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

this will give you the roots of the equation, which will tell you the points where the bridge touches the water

x of vertex = -b/2a y of vertex = f(-b/2a)
