And please don't just tell me the answer, I want to know how please! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea sorry. no hard feelings?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, that's alright. Thanks for trying!

Notice that these 2 angles are congruent which means |dw:1384217823177:dw| those angles are the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a line has 180 degrees so you can write it like this 5x + (14x -10) = 180 and 2y +(14x -10) = 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from here you can solve for x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! Thanks! And I know how you determined that the angles 2y and 5x are equal to each other, but how could you tell which ones were congruent with the remaining 3 angles??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so because those lines show they are parallel you can see 2y = 5x so that small triangle formed from the intersection of the 2 angles have the same properties |dw:1384218233102:dw| so that angle has the same kind of pararrel lines as the original angle, hope you get what im saying lol im kinda bad at explaining this
