ok here is the question I got half of it so here it is If gasoline costs $1.23 per gallon, how much would it cost to buy 12.5 gallons It costs 14.76 for 12 gallons but what do I do for the .5 part ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so x= # of gallons here is an equation. y=1.23x if x=number of gallons and it says to buy 12.5 gallons you would sub. in 12.5 in for x and get y=(1.23)(12.5) do you have a calculator or do it by hand?
