a ball is thrown straight up in the air with an initial velocity of 25m/s. in which direction does the ball accelerate on its way up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gravity is causing the ball to accelerate downwards. If it was accelerating upwards it would be going up faster and faster which isn't the case... It acts downards which slows the ball's speed down until it stops and eventually starts moving back towards earth.
