Two 2 kg balls move away from each other, one traveling 3 m/s to the right, the other 5 m/s to the left. What is the magnitude of the total momentum of the system? Answer in units of kg · m/s is the equation for this p=mv?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes P = mv where you use the total mass and the difference of velocities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one would be 6 and the other 10 but I'm not sure if you add or subtract to find total momentum since they are moving in different directions
