solve 22/121+31/11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is 3, but how

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22/121=0.18181 repeating and 31/11=2.818181 repeating if your round them to .. 0.2 and 2.8 add them together 0.2+2.8=3

hero (hero):

First, \(\dfrac{22}{121}\) reduces to \(\dfrac{2}{11}\) because \(\dfrac{22}{121} = \dfrac{11 \times 2}{11 \times 11}\) \(= \dfrac{11}{11} \times \dfrac{2}{11}\) \(= 1 \times \dfrac{2}{11}\) \(= \dfrac{2}{11}\) Therefore \[\frac{22}{121} + \frac{31}{11}=\frac{2}{11} + \frac{31}{11}\] \(=\dfrac{33}{11}\) \(=3\)
