If EDF is similar to EAB, then \[\frac{EA}{EB} = \frac{ED}{EF}\]

hero (hero):

In other words: \[\frac{12}{x} = \frac{17}{x + 7}\]

Solve for x

i'd have to cross multiply right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12*x+7 and 17*x

I can't find for x :(

hero (hero):

12(x + 7) = 17x 12x + 84 = 17x 84 = 17x - 12x 84 = (17 - 12)x 84 = 5x 84/5 = x 16.8 = x No one said x had to be a whole number.
