Which of the following could NOT possibly be true for a function? A. Domain is {2}, Range is {2} B. Domain is {2, 3}, Range is {2} C. Domain is {2}, Range is {2, 3} D. Domain is {2, 3}, Range is {2, 3}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For a relation to be a function, a single value of x (domain) CANNOT be mapped to more than one value of y (range).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry if i get this wrong but i now believe it is A and wondering if that is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Incorrect. A is a function as it maps the 2 from the domain to the single value 2 of the range.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C.. right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amanda_wiwi If you think it is C, explain why, so that @Cassidy510 can analyze your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ananda_wiwi , if you think it is C, explain why, so that @Cassidy510 can aalyze your reasoning.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the domain cannot have more than one number for range, right? A) has one answer for domain, and one for range. But C has one for domain, and two for range, which you previously stated was not allowed. Correct? Range and domain were never my best.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ananda_wiwi You are correct. In choice C, there is one value of x and that is being mapped to TWO values of y. That is not a function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i understand now thank you everyone for your help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure.

No problem, hun. God bless you guys! c:
