given the binomials (x+1),(x+4),(x-5) and (x-2) which one is a factor of f(x)=3x^3-12x^2-4x-55

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

Well, in order to solve this, we'll have to factor that 3rd grade equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bhahahaha!

OpenStudy (owlcoffee):

By that i mean factoring it... Wich method have you learned?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

If x+1 is a factor then x = -1 is a root. Plug in -1 and see if you get 0. If you do x+1 is a factor. If not, move on to x+4 and try -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be (x-5)?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yes
