Help me complete this sentence. A ellas (les/le) gusta escribir correos electronicos.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The sentence starts with "a ellas." "Ellas" is the direct object of this sentence. And it's plural. So we have to use "les." "Le" is for singular direct objects.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you that makes sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, de nada.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A mi (te/me) gusta pasar un rato con los amigos.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the same kind of problem. The sentence starts with "a mi." What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't even know what it says. well you translate for me please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look, I'll show it how it works: A mi -- me gusta A ti -- te gusta A el -- le gusta A ella -- le gusta A usted -- le gusta A nosotros -- nos gusta A ellos -- les gusta A ellas -- les gusta A ustedes -- les gusta Just take a look. It's really easy. Sometimes we say "gustan" instead of "gusta." This happens only when the thing that we like is plural. Example -- I like the apples. "Me GUSTAN las manzanas." "Apples" is plural.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"A mi me gusta pasar el rato con amigos." "I like to pass the time with friends." Or...."I like to spend time with friends."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"A mi me gusta" means ...."I like."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"pasar el rato con amigos" means..."to pass the time with friends."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I see. You make things simple. What if I have to complete a sentence. A mis amigas no ________________ comer papas fritas.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. So "amigas" is plural. It ends with an S. It's pretty much the same as saying....."a ellas." "Ellas" is used when we're talking about more than one girl. "Amigas" is a group of friends, who are girls. So.... a ellas -- les gusta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know that chart I showed you? A mi -- me gusta A ti -- te gusta A el -- le gusta A ella -- le gusta A usted -- le gusta A nosotros -- nos gusta A ellos -- les gusta A ellas -- les gusta A ustedes -- les gusta It would help, if you knew what all those words mean. Like...."mi" means "me." And...."ti" means "you." mi -- me ti -- you el -- he ella -- she usted -- you (formal/singular) nosotros -- we ellos -- they ellas -- they (when there are only girls) ustedes -- you (formal/plural)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know this is a lot of information to take in, all at once. When we learn a new language for the first time, there's a lot of memorization to be done. Just take your time. And if you have questions about this stuff, you can ask.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A mis amigas no les gusta comer papas fritas.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that's right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It means "my friends don't like to eat fried potatoes." A mis amigas -- my friends no les gusta -- do not like comer papas fritas -- to eat fried potatoes. "Fried potatoes" are french fries. It's what spanish-speakers call them. "Fried potatoes."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok im going to try one on my own. one second.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool. You wanna let me check when you're done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Absolutely...thank you... A Napoleon le gusta pasar un rato con los amigos.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

....lol! "Napoleon likes to spend time with friends."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean to say that it's grammatically correct. It's fine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A ellas les gusta tocar la guitarra?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I say I like to relax and read with friends

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I apologize my internet connection is slow.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for taking the time to explain the answers in detail. I really appreciate it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it's okay. I'm sorry for leaving. "A mi me gusta relajarme y leer con amigos." "I like to relax and to read with friends."
