The United States no longer seeks to expand it's territory, but when Manifest Destiny was around and the country was young, the U.S. would aquire land through war, such as the Mexican American War and the Spanish American War, purchasing land such as the Louisiana Purchase and the Gadsden Purchase, or simply taking land such as when the Andrew Jackson forced the Cherokee Indians to relocated from the Georgia territory to the Oklahoma territory.
