A business has $15,000 to spend on airline tickets to travel to a conference. It wants 27 of its employees to attend. The business wants to buy as many business-class seats as possible. The business-class seats cost $700. The economy-class seats cost $375. How many of each type of ticket should the business purchase? 11 business class and 16 economy class 12 business class and 15 economy class 15 business class and 12 economy class 16 business class and 11 economy class

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

i think it would be the 2nd or third one.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

@SolomonZelman i need help on like 7 questions can you help.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You have $15000 let: Number of the business-class seats = A each A costs 700 Number of the economy-class seats = E each B costs 375 27 seats needed.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

its c...

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

can you help me with this one also? How many solutions will this system of equations have? y = -3.5x - 3.5 y = -3.5x + 3.5 No solution Infinite solutions One solution Two solutions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well first you'd want to graph that. I use https://www.desmos.com/calculator this it's great. Just plug in your functions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@undeadknight26 Remember if the slope is the same you always have no solutions.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Thank you that is some very useful info green.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

A consistent system of equations is a system with __________. the same line parallel lines intersecting lines and lines that have the same slope intersecting lines and lines that have the same equation

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Did you just plug in the choices? 11(700) + 16(375) 12(700) + 15(375) 15(700) + 12(375) 16(700) + 11(375) yes it is C. I tried to do it logically, but I can't, too long...

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

lol yes that is what i did since i knew the prices for each ticket.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

For your last question, I would say, those that have teh same solution for both equations of the system.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

so which would that be?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Not A, b/c it is 2 different lines. Not necessarily B, the lines don't have to be parallel. Not C, b/c they don't have to have the same slope, in fact they for sure don't. So I think D makes sense the most.
