Look at the expression below. Seven j plus six plus five k plus eight j k minus two k plus one a. Rewrite the expression so that like terms are grouped together. b. Simplify the expression you have to simplify *medal* *fan*

@swaggd2

hartnn (hartnn):

Seven j 7j plus + six 6 plus + five k 5k plus + eight j k 8jk minus - two k 2k plus one +1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats the answer??

hartnn (hartnn):

7j+6+5k+8jk-2k+1 which are the like terms ? can you identify ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know how to do it so no

hartnn (hartnn):

combine the constants atleast ?

hartnn (hartnn):

constants are those numbers without any letters attached to it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i combine them @hartnn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i combine @mathnoobie10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nuke_ur_friend

OpenStudy (nuke_ur_friend):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont get how to do it

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

use what @hartnn gave you, like terms are like 7k and 5k. or 6x and 4x. like terms are when there are multiple of the same variable with different or same numbers with them. it could also be 6x^2 is a like term to 10x^2 does that make more sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

i will give you an example 3x+4+6x+7k+k= to simplify this you have to add like terms, so you would add together 3x and 6x, and 7k and k. meaning the answer for my example would be 9x+8k+4

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

does that make more sense now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

NO I JUST HATE MYSELF AND DONT WANT LO LIVE ANYMORE ITS LIKE I READ IT AND READ IT AND IT DOSENT KOME IN MY BRAIN AND ANYWAISE I HAVE TO WRITE A PARAGRAPH OF 5 SENTENCES I THINK THAT I HAVE TO REWRITE THE EXPRESSION

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

just breath for a sec. give me the instructions and question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Question 1 (Essay Worth 6 points) Look at the expression below. Seven j plus six plus five k plus eight j k minus two k plus one a. Rewrite the expression so that like terms are grouped together. b. Simplify the expression

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

will you give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

'a' is looking for you put like terms next to each other 'b' is looking for you to combine like terms first, write the expression out with #s. so 7j+6+5k+8jk-2k+1 then, put like terms together. the like terms are '5k and 2k' and '6 and 1' so 6+1+5k-2k+7j+8jk then combine the like terms, '6+1' and '5k-2k' so 7+3k+7j+8jk thats it. do you get it better anymore?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so im just going to right those bunch of numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwire

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

yes but since it is an essay question you have to explain it like i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so im gonna write all u wrote @esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

pretty much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok listen im sorry can u just give me the answer can u just write the paragraph for me and then i will become ur fan and give u a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

sure, but do you understand it more now?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

First, write the expression out with numbers, 7j+6+5k+8jk-2k+1. Then, put like terms together. The like terms are '5k and 2k' and '6 and 1', 6+1+5k-2k+7j+8jk. Then combine the like terms, '6+1' and '5k-2k', 7+3k+7j+8jk.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7j+6+5k+8jk-2k+1............ The like terms are '5k and 2k' and '6 and 1', 6+1+5k-2k+7j+8jk. Then combine the like terms, '6+1' and '5k-2k', 7+3k+7j+8jk. is this right do i just copy it and paste ans will it be right? @

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

i guess so yes. just use the last thing i posted before this message

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, write the expression out with numbers, 7j+6+5k+8jk-2k+1. Then, put like terms together. The like terms are '5k and 2k' and '6 and 1', 6+1+5k-2k+7j+8jk. Then combine the like terms, '6+1' and '5k-2k', 7+3k+7j+8jk. this one?? @esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i will just copy and paste the on ontop of me?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which pair of terms are like terms? four and four t five m and three m n ten a and four a eight and eight x y

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

ten a and four a because it is 10a and 4a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify the expression below by combining like terms. seven j plus five k minus two k plus eight j k plus six plus one a- fifteen j k plus three k plus seven b- seven j plus eleven j k plus seven c- seven j plus three k plus fifteen j k d- seven j plus three k plus eight j k plus seven

@lauluisa

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@elephantine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired can u help me with this one Simplify the expression below by combining like terms. seven j plus five k minus two k plus eight j k plus six plus one fifteen j k plus three k plus seven seven j plus eleven j k plus seven seven j plus three k plus fifteen j k seven j plus three k plus eight j k plus seven

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

7j+5k-2k+8jk+6+1 is the same expression as the first question i helped you solve. the answer would be 7+3k+7j+8jk.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres no answer choices with that answer u gave me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

my answer is the last answer choice, seven j plus three k plus eight j k plus seven

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify by combining like terms. three r plus s plus s plus seven three r plus s plus seven three r plus two s plus seven five r s plus seven twenty-one r s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

will you open this up in a new question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no why it would be the same thing

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

because that is what you are supposed to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what ever plzz just tell me the answers

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

the second choice

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Simplify by combining like terms. eight b plus two c plus three minus four b plus five c four b plus seven c plus three twelve b plus seven c plus three four b minus three c plus three twelve b minus three c plus three

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@goku-kai

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sel95

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

four b plus three plus seven c
