what is Guerrilla Warfare was, and HOW it helped the patriots win the Revolutionary War?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Guerilla warfare is essentially taking groups out to raid and harass the enemy through smaller attacks rather than confronting them on the open battlefield. The colonies didn't have as professional or as well trained an army as the British did so they had to pick and choose their fights carefully. They couldn't simply rush into every fight and hope to win in the long run, so they adapted guerilla tactics to bleed the British slowly over time.
