Bromine is a chemical element with the symbol Br, and atomic number of 35. It is in the halogen group. The element was isolated independently by two chemists, Carl Jacob Löwig and Antoine Jerome Balard, in 1825–1826... Bromine is a chemical element that is used everyday for many different things. The largest use for bromine is for brominated flame retardants. These are used in TVs, furniture, and even mobile phones. Bromine is also used often in both over-the-counter and doctor prescribed medications. It is most often used in analgesics, sedatives, and antihistamines. Bromine is also widely used in both swimming pools and hot tubs as a purifier/disinfectant. In agriculture, bromine acts as a very powerful and effective pesticide. Bromine is also used in photography, and was once even used in automobiles.
