Secretion of epinephrine... Epinephrine is a hormone that is secreted when stress is being experienced. When epinephrine reaches the liver, it binds to a G protein-coupled receptor in the plasma membrane of a target cell. This triggers the synthesis of cyclic AMP, which activates a protein kinase inside the cell, which in turn leads to activation of an enzyme that inhibits the synthesis of glycogen, and another enzyme that promotes the breakdown of glycogen. Got the info from Campbell Biology 9th Edition. Diagram attached.
