There are three types of theme(s) / Theme - Implied Theme - Directly Stated Theme Theme- lessons learned in life ; the Underlying idea Implied Theme- lessons learned in life that are hinted at rather than stated Directly Stated Theme - the author sums up the lesson in a general statement like a moral

A theme is an overarching topic that the story covers. It's almost the moral/purpose of the story.
