I know it mentions animals, but I haven't read the same article that you have.  hope this helps 

When i was younger i could have a couple of drinks and be fine.  Now not so much.
Also, teens tend to have a higher muscle mass then adults as well as a faster recovery time for almost everything (sickness, physical injuries, etc) compared to adults
