OpenStudy (anonymous):
The Missouri comprise was in 1820. The main purpose of this compromise was to draw the line of which half of the Union would have slavery and which half wouldn't have it. According to the compromise, the line would be just north of the 36" 30" parallel except within the boundaries of the proposed state of Missouri.
