The first figure of the Sierpinski triangle has one shaded triangle. The second figure of the Sierpinski triangle has three shaded triangles. The third figure of the Sierpinski triangle has nine shaded triangles. Which summation represents the total number of shaded triangles in the first 15 figures? It's asking me for the equation! Please help.

Look at that sequence; 1,3,9, .... So this is a geometric sequence, with the first term is 1 and the ratio is 3 (as you always multiply by 3 to get to the next term) so it 1ill be y = 3^(n)....so we write it as....
