Which of the following is a solution of x2 + 4x = -15? (2 points) Select one: a. b. c. d.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where are the choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to solve it, move the -15 to the other side by adding, and factor out the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the choices are A.x=-2-sqroot(19) B.x=2+sqroot(19) C.x=2+imaginary number sqroot(11) D.x=-2-imaginary number sqroot(11)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x^{2}+4x+15 \] use the quadratic formula to solve for this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what the quadratic formula looks like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I cant remember off the top of my head

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ -b+-\sqrt{b ^{2}*4ac} }{2a }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ax^2+bx+c\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case the a is 1, the b is 4 and the c is 15 so plug the numbers into the formula, and solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're welcome

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

it cannot be solved by factorization and it is solved by quadratic formula because middle term (4x) donot break. By quadratic formula: as shown above (helpme.12)'s comment: where a=1, b=4 and c=15
