I have this problem and I could sure use some help on it. X=-1 the value of X to the second power -3 is 4 , Can you please explain to me how they got the answer of 4?

OpenStudy (mikeyymonroe):

so the problem is this (-1² - 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks a little something like this X=-1

OpenStudy (mikeyymonroe):

well that equation is incorrect in that it is not even a true equation, if x=-1 then it would be -1²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I know nothing about math, so that could be what it is.

OpenStudy (mikeyymonroe):

the equation is not a true problem because the answer would be, if the problem was (-1² - 3), -2 and not 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what the problem was anyways. And that was the answer too. Math is so confusing.

OpenStudy (mikeyymonroe):

please confront the person who presented you with this question and ask them to expain it more clearly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will, thanks for your time.

OpenStudy (mikeyymonroe):

of course
