I need help understanding how to solve this problem. Like, I don't want it to be done for me, but I just don't understand how to do it. If z=30 when x=3 and y=2, write the function that models the relationship. z varies directly with x and inversely with y. Please help me? (:

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if z varies directly with x; then z = kx if z varies indirectly with y; then z = m/y if we address them as one; then z = (km)x/y

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we know zx and y we can solve for (km)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So... I just plug in the numbers in to z = (km)x/y?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep; the solution is to have a constant value for (km); which is determined by the specific values they give you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. (: Thanks. I kinda get it now.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good luck :)
