Curtis is buying a figurine that is 6 inches high according to the box. The picture on the box is 8 centimeters high and 5 centimeters wide. What proportion could you use to determine the width of the figurine? 6 inches over 8 centimeters equals 5 centimeters over w 8 centimeters over 6 inches equals 5 centimeters over w 8 centimeters over 6 inches equals w over 5 centimeters 5 centimeters over 8 centimeters equals 6 inches over w

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Well to figure this out: 2.54 cm equals 1 inch so if the picture is 8 centimeters wide its about 3.15(Estimated) inches. So if its 6 inches total that would almost be 2x the amount, but its not exactly. To figure out the multiplier difference you divide 6 by 3.15 to get 1.9(Estimated) so 1.9x 3.15 inches = 6 inches. Now you have the difference so take 1.9 and multiply it by 5 cm, but first you got to figure out what 5 cm is in equivalent to inches so do the same technique: Since 2.54 cm equals 1 inch divide 5 cm by 2.54 cm to get 1.97(Estimated) inches. So 1.97 x 1.9 = 3.743 inches. So 3.743 inches should be the close answer to your problem. So I would say that the actual answer would be: Idk. I'd have to do the mathematical format to do that myself. Hmmm hold on.

@Ghostgate so what would it be?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Well this is kinda like plugging in numbers since we know that w(Statue width) than we can plug 3.743 in there. Lets say its 4 for right now since everything is already estimated. So lets go over each answer starting with option A: 6/8 also reduced to 3/4 and 5/4 which reduced or factored to 1 1/4. Obviously that does not equal so A is not our choice. Option B: 8/6 reduced to 1 2/6 or 1 1/3 and 5/4 reduced to 1 1/4 again. So that's not the answer. Option C: 8/6 again reduced to 1 2/6 or 1 1/3 and 4/5 well that doesn't equal again. So maybe Option D might be the answer lets check: 5/8 and 6/4 also 1 2/3. So honestly I don't really know you may have to distribute the real answers and put those numbers in. I would suggest it would be D, but honestly I'm not sure.
