What is the range of the graph of y = (x – 4)2 + 3? A) y less than or equal to 4 B) y greater than or equal to 4 C) y greater than or equal to 3 D) y less than or equal to 3

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

have you done parabolas yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea i have @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

... can you see where the vertex is?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

the given equation is a parabola in "vertex form" already

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 4 and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap, the vertex will be at (4, 3) the binomial has a positive coefficient so the parabola will look like |dw:1384476374176:dw|

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so notice the "range"..."y" goes down to 3 and then goes right back up, it never makes it below 3.... so that's the range :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the range would be y greater than or equal to 3 @jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap, goes to \(\bf -\infty\) comes down to 3 and goes right back up to \(+\infty\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so Much

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):
