Solve x2 + 8x = –3

OpenStudy (austinl):

Get all the terms on the left side, and then use the quadratic formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would u move them to the left?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Easy: x2+8x=-3 10x=-3 10x/10=-3/10 X=-0.3

OpenStudy (austinl):

No, it is x^2 victoria.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh okay then forget what i said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would u move it to the left?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would u add 8x to both sides

OpenStudy (austinl):

Add 3 to both sides. \(x^2+8x+3=0\) It is in the form, \(ax^2+bx+c=0\) You can then use the quadratic formula \(\displaystyle x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\)

OpenStudy (austinl):

There you have it, good luck. I am going home and gonna cook me up some ramen. Have a great night.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ummm okay you too @austinL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha mmmm Ramen. And ya @austinL got it right
