OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you tell if a number is rational or irrational/ can i have examples too ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does the number ever end? if not its irrational.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pi is an example of an irrational number, because the decimal continues on forever and doesn't ever repeat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i forgot to mention, if it is a repeater, like 1/3 -> 0.3333333333333333 to infinity, it is rational.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or something like 0.13131313131313 - this is a repeat of 13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im a little confused rational= never end and vice versa?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rational ends or repeats itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it repets so you can end it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if it repeats and doesn't end, it is still rational because it is repeating itself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kay thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a irrational number is like 0.625
