Help please! Determine whether each is a polynomial: f(x)=3x+4/5x^3-7 g(x)=-5x^3+x-3/x h(x)=x^3sqrt5 + x-3 k(x)=25x^2-x^3+x^5

when you say polynomial function, there should be \(No\) breaks on the graph. so which one do you think will have no asymptote or breaks on these functions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right ;p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so everything else is not a polynomial? This wasn't a multiple choice. Each equation was its own question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, the rest is not a polynomial function because if there are breaks that is called RATIONAL function.. degree of polynomial functions are whole positive numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh right ok so I guess D is the only polynomial. Thank you! I have a long study guide to finish so is it ok if I tag you on some? I could really use the help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i can, i'll still try :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean by break in the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

asymptotes, or holes, discontinuities.. for example the function 1/x the graph has a vertical asymptote and a horizontal asymptote |dw:1384538103381:dw|
