Find x if f(x) = 2x + 7 and f(x) = -1
OpenStudy (pixiedust1):
Please give me a step by step explanation, not just the answer :)
OpenStudy (pixiedust1):
Oh! By the way, my options are
-4
-3
5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so basically the equation is -1= 2(-4)+7
OpenStudy (pixiedust1):
Okay! So far, that makes sense!

I brain farted and gave you the answer lol sorry but in problems like this they put f(x) to purposefully throw you off.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
moving on though you solve the equation. f(x)=2(-4)+7 2(-4)= -8
So f(x)=-8+7 which equals -1
so your equation is -1=-1 that is a true statement so -4 is your answer!

Okay!! That really helped me!! Thank you SO MUCH for your time and for the explanation!!!!!
