Please help. The perimeter of a rectangle is equal to twice the sum of its length and it width. One rectangle has a length of 13 1/8 inches and a perimeter of 42 1/2 inches. Write an equation that can be used to find the width,w, if the rectangle.

Do you know how to setup a model for this problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I don't.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You would divide it by 2, then subtract the height

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the perimeter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide what by 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To start, draw the rectangle with labels for length (L) and height (H).

Ok..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@BrandonH4499 is right. The model of the problem is P = 2L + 2H.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you see how to get H? (I call it H, height, but your problem uses W for width). In that case P = 2L + 2W

No I mean 8
