Adam goes to a skating rink on Tuesdays for $8.50. While there, he pays $1.50 for each item he buys at the concession stand. Which equation best represents this information? y = 8.50x + 1.50 y = 8.50x - 1.50 y = 1.50x - 8.50 y = 1.50x + 8.50
y = 1,50x + 8.50
oops....y = 1.50x + 8.50
why would it be y = 1.5x +8.5 though?
The constant is how much he paid to get in, right? So that will be a 8.50. How much does he spend more? 1.50 TIMES the number of items he buys which we can represent by x. How much total does he spend? 1.5x+8.5 So y=1.5x+8.5

1.50x --- the x is the number of items bought at the concession stand + 8.50 (the cost of admission) = y (total cost)
