a 1200kg car is travelling at 35 m/s. When the brakes are applied, a braking force of 3200N is applied to the car until the car comes to rest. How far does the automobile travel over the time it is decelerating?

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Do you have multiple choice, or are you asked to answer yourself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no multiple choice.

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

Okay. @AllTehMaffs is busy right now so I'll try and answer this; it'll be good practice for the test anyway.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks. what grade are you in??

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

First, we have all the given information: \[m=1200kg\]\[V_0=35 m/s\]\[f=3200N\] I'm assuming that even though it's saying "a braking force is applied", it's going in the other direction... It should be okay to think of it as friction. --- I'm in the eleventh grade.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's fine...i just don't know what formula to use so yea idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(hint hint - the velocity isn't a force, so isn't in the free body ^_^)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do i do to find the distancee????

OpenStudy (kittiwitti1):

=.= @AllTehMaffs I knew that, I just put it in there for convenience... But I scribbled it out for you anyway|dw:1384671543231:dw|
